During the 1930's, Epiphone was among the small number of companies to take jazz music earnestly and so they launched the Sheraton, a hollow bodied f-hole guitar that enabled guitarists to play as loudly as they wished devoid of the feedback they were getting with similar guitars. Fast-forward to 2002 with the introduction of the Epiphone Elitist Sheraton guitar and Epiphone did the impossible. They made the Sheraton even better.
Finally the initial Epiphone Sheraton guitar was supplanted in interest by the Gibson ES-355 which was also unveiled in nineteen thirty, although there were a lot of well-known jazz musicians who continued to sing it's praises. However the Sheraton was finally discontinued in 1970 simply to be launched once again in the late '80s. And ultimately, the Elitist series was born in 2003 as a compromise product that could interest both the cost conscious and the high-priced Gibson fans.
Each guitar manufacturer has a semi-hollowbody guitar on the market nowadays but it's hard to match the classic body design of the Sheraton. And the Elitist model brings fashion and quality to new levels. It's certainly a guitar created for the expert player.
You can find blues and rock players with various semi-hollowbodies but the Epiphone Elitist Sheraton guitar appears designed for jazz. The reality is the abalone and mother-of-pearl inlays on their own seem to shout "Play Jazz!"
