A Trip To A Display Of Realistic Baby Dolls And Board Games Along With My Spouse And Kids
I took my family on a family trip recently to a museum of childhood and doll. My wife loves dolls, especially realistic baby dolls, as she has been collecting them for years. She told me that there was going to be a show of realistic baby dolls at this museum, so we figured we would have a look.
When we arrived, we quickly saw that this was a really huge exhibition into the lifes and cultures of children over the last 150 years or more. There was one particular show that made me saw how hard a life children had back within the late 1800's.
The display was showing you the difficult conditions they had in their job in addition to the hours they were required to put in.
One of the instances was chimney cleaning. Children as young as 6 years old was performing the job, with no safety gear and was exposed to obvious lung problems. Accidents and tragedy was frequent its unhappy to say. The times were long too, with children working as long as 13 hours a day in factories with only one brief break. How the quality of life has modified within the hundred or so years for the worlds children.
As the a show went on, there was a vast array of toys from the past, right up to the present. Some of these toys reminded me of my childhood, as one or two of the gadgets on show I recall owning, and ranging from toy trains and tricycles, right up to some of the popular branded board games we can still buy today.
It was not only a fun day trip for all of the family. My spouse got to see her realistic baby dolls, and a large selection of dolls there was. This visit was indeed an education and more crucially, a reminder that life was not as straightforward for children as it should have been back in these difficult hard, long working days a hundred or so years ago.
