This is an article on the methods to set your mind to the place so that you make a very deliberate choice to stop smoking. This is really a choice that if you engage your brain it just does not make any sense to continue with your smoking habit at all. By building a plan and following it and by knowing what you are going to get as a reward for stopping this habit you will impel yourself and remind your own self even when you are tempted that the reward is so much more for quitting the habit than to go on with behavior that is costing you dearly both financially and health wise.
I never thought I would be able to break my smoking addiction. It seemed like I was always waiting until the anxiety in my life was at a minimum to begin to quit and of course that just never seemed to happen. I used my smoking as a stress reliever and I just didn't know what to replace it with. I was apprehensive of gaining weight and it seemed like every time I stopped smoking or even attempted smoking control, I replaced my smoking with eating and as soon as I saw a weight gain over five pound I was once again smoking.
It was not easy but I started some smoking control by replacing additional activities and habits for times when I would usually smoke. When I decided that I had to quit the smoking habit I started with a list of pros and cons for my choice to smoke or to stop. In other words what I was getting out of smoking and then the cons to keeping my smoking habit. Of course the pros far outweighed the cons. The health and financial costs of a smoking addiction makes the decision to maintain one you cant really confirm in any sense except for the fact that as a smoker this is a habit that you love.
After I made my list I hung this list up on my bathroom mirror and also on my refrigerator door. I wanted everyday to see my motivation for changing my behavior this aided considerably since quitting smoking is a decision one has to renew everyday. If you stop smoking you have to suspect there will be times when you will slip but in the times past that I slipped, I just accepted failure and started smoking full steam ahead. This time if I slipped and bought a pack of cigarettes or smoked one I begged from a friend I allowed myself forgiveness for not being perfect and started right back up.
After I saw the scales go up I made sure to go to the gym more and not to replace eating with smoking. I also rewarded myself by pampering myself with anything I normally wouldn't do for myself. In the event I pay attention to careful smoking control my cigarette consumption always goes down. I will not say that I don't think about smoking occasionally and very likely always will but I also tell myself that what you save is both money and health. Your clothes do not stink of smoke your hair doesn't reek of smoke and you can better enjoy the food you eat. You can also put the money you would have used for buying cigarettes into a bank account and watch it add up.
