Let's Discuss About Coffee Cakes: Why They're Named Coffee Cake? Do They Actually Contain Coffee?

Majority of us, when we socialize and come together with our friends and drink coffee in our preferred coffee stores, we can't help but order a slice of the delicious and oh-so-scrumptious coffee cakes they offer. But, when asked, do you even know what a coffee cake is?

In most coffee stores, they usually say that they specialize in coffee cakes and coffee cake recipes, that they've coffee cakes offered, in which, is one of the main reasons why the majority of people typically think that coffee cakes, are well, cakes which are made out of coffee, or whose chief component is coffee. However, that my friend is a very incorrect means of defining what a coffee cake is. After all, coffee cakes aren't made of coffee. Majority of them don't even have the slightest pinch of coffee in their list of ingredients. But, why are they known as coffee cakes if they aren't made of coffee? Nice question.

Coffee Cakes are named coffee cakes, that is since they're the perfect complimentary dish or dessert for the oh-so-bitter beverage we all have come to know and love, coffee. To put things simply, coffee tastes bitter, coffee cake tastes sweet. These coffee cakes may range from honey cakes, to flat cakes, to chocolate coffee cakes, vanilla, cinnamon, and many more. The list just goes on and on. Their relation with coffee can very well be the major reason why they are labeled coffee cakes, rather than their more common names, like chocolate cakes and etc.

Optimistically, the next time you read or listen to the word coffee cake, you wouldn't think that it is a variety of cake made of coffee. Keep in mind, as I have said many times in this article, coffee cakes and coffee complements one another.
